I Want My Money Back

The Republican Presidential Debate the other night was not full of surprises.   In theory calling for many debates (as Newt and several others have called for against Obama) is a positive, but the problem occurs when the debate stagnates.  Such is the case right now in the Republican debates.  Nothing really new has been said, and there is a blatant lack of details.  These candidates can debate every night, but if it is a mere regurgitation of the same talking points then there really is no point.  I use to be of the mindset that having more debates is a good thing, but after being exposed to this litany of Republican shows I am starting to think otherwise.  Any thoughtful and intentional citizen that truly cares about the improving our society can only stay engaged for sheer entertainment purposes at this point.  The only thing to watch for is if Ron Paul will go off on one of his crazy uncle tangents and possibly make some bold and insightful points along the way or if Mitt Romney and Rick Perry will strike up a good ol shootout.  Many people are calling for more transparency in government, and they believe that a way to do this is to put everything on television.  However, the result has been a dog and pony show where politicians simply deflect and dodge.  If we are to have more debates, then my feeling is the candidates must agree to be direct and honest with themselves and their audience.
